Monday Morning Goodness

When a man wakes up on a Monday morning, do you consider what makes this man a “good” man? Is it that he gets out of bed on his first alarm? Is it that he makes breakfast for himself and any family that he has? Is he a man good if he does his morning devotionals to honour the Supreme Being?

All these things can be considered “good” actions, but I want to delve deeper into why this man is “good” for doing these things. Often we call a man “good” because he does those things which result in preferable outcomes, but what about who he is that makes him “good”? What beyond his actions makes him so?

Consider on this Monday morning, what it is that Freemasonry says about a man that makes him “good”. To what end, for what state, or for which cause do we labour day-in-and-day-out because to answer the question of goodness reaches down into your ethical foundations. To understand why you act and what is “goodness” gives you insight into your purpose and where you fit in the Supreme Architect’s grand design; such purpose, once known, helps you become a better man, not just a “good” man.
